Hispanic Heritage Week, The observance was expanded in 1988 to a month-long celebration (Sept. 15 - Oct, 15). America celebrates the culture and traditions of U.S. residents who trace their roots to Spain, Mexico and the Spanish-speaking nations of Central America, South America and the Caribbean. Sept. 15 was chosen as the starting point for the celebration because it is the anniversary of independence of five Latin American countries: Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guate­mala, Honduras, and Nicaragua. In addition, Mexico and Chile celebrate their independence days on Sept. 16 and Sept. 18, respectively.

The purpose of this event is to raise awareness of the dangers involved with texting while driving and encourage everyone to pledge never to text and drive. 
 
Please join us for a brief but very compelling presentation.  You will have the opportunity to try the “texting simulator” to see how well you do when you text and drive.
 
More than 100,000 accidents occur annually because of texting and driving.  Our goal is to help put an end to this practice.  Your presence at this event will signal your agreement with and support of this important cause.  We hope you will be able to join us!

The program starts at 6 PM with the 16 piece Bernbach Blaskappelle Band which will provide music and entertainment in traditional Bavarian style.
There will be a Fashion Show by Wiesnkoenig USA and a silent auction.
The MSCA gets 10% of all food and drink sold that evening.

Cincinnati State Technical and Community College will be hosting its annual Latino Student Leadership Workshop on Friday, September 20, 2013. This event serves over fifty area Latino high school students.
 

As a part of our effort to prepare students for post-secondary life, we will we holding a career fair from 12:30 pm until 1:15 pm at the Cincinnati State campus in Clifton. We are looking for area professionals and businesses/organizations from all fields to donate their time to inform students of the different career opportunities available to them in a fair format.
