SUMMARY:A Statewide Needs Assessment Exploring Changes in School Mental Health Needs Due to COVID-19
DESCRIPTION:JUNE 3\, 2021 | 11:00 am   12:15 pm\n\nThe deadline for registration is June 2\n\nApproved for 1.25 Continuing Education Hours\n\nThis training is approved for CE for social workers\, counselors\, and marriage and family therapists in the state of Ohio. This training is approved for prevention professionals in domain P6 and chemical dependency counselors in domain C4.\n\nGiven the wide-ranging challenges from COVID-19 school closures and interruptions to in-person learning\, there is a need to explore how COVID-19 has impacted student mental health needs and school mental health service delivery. This presentation will report findings from a statewide needs' assessment administered in February 2021 to school mental health professionals. We will share how COVID-19 has impacted student mental health and substance abuse as well as changes in service delivery. We will conclude with best practice recommendations on how to use a preventative and systematic comprehensive Student Assistance Program to address student mental health needs. Dr. Brann received her Master of Arts in Counseling and Ph.D. in School Psychology. Her research and consultation interests focus on building tiered school mental health systems and she is currently a co-lead on the Ohio School Wellness Initiative.\n\nAmity Noltemeyer\n\nProfessor and Chair at Miami University\n\nDr. Amity Noltemeyer is Professor and Chair of the Department of Educational Psychology at Miami University. Dr. Noltemeyer has experience as a practicing school psychologist\, former President of the Ohio School Psychologists Association\, Editor-in Chief of School Psychology International journal\, and co-lead of statewide initiatives including Ohio's first School Climate Transformation Grant and the Ohio School Wellness Initiative.\n\nKristen Morio\n\nSenior Research Associate at Miami University\n\nKristen Morio\, M.A.T. is in her 12th yr as a Senior Research Associate & Project Team Leader for the Discovery Center. Ms. Morio coordinates and leads external research & evaluation services\, including research design\; proposal development\; project & program monitoring\; qualitative data collection & analyses\; and technical & evaluation report development for a variety of local-\, state-\, & federally-funded projects across the nation\, with several Ohio ESC's\, for the ODE\, NIH\, DHHS\, & for multiple NSF programs.
