DESCRIPTION:Elaborately dressed female skeletons\, mariachi bands playing in cemeteries\, picnics on tombs heavily illuminated by candle light\,amongst other extraordinary events happen on November 2nd in Mexico. On this day\, Dia de los Muertos\, the living and the dead share the same space\, intermingle and celebrate. This fantastic tradition\, as it is today\, blends Pre-Hispanic and Catholic customs. The Mexican civilization believed souls went to a final resting place depending on how death came to the deceased. Children went to the Chichihuacuauhco\, those who died by causes related to water went to Tlalocan\, while those that died in war and women after giving birth went to Omeyoc n and Mictl n claimed those accompanied by a X lotl (big dog). It took four years to get to Mictl n and the relatives of the deceased provided all things necessary to make the trip.
