SUMMARY:EACC Young Professionals: An Evening at the Ballet
DESCRIPTION:The EACC Young Professionals are partnering with ATTITUDE\, the Cincinnati Ballet's young professionals group\, to host an evening at the ballet\, featuring the romantic comedy ballet Copp lia.\n\n\n\nA networking reception with light refreshments will be held prior to the ballet. Attendees will also be treated to a brief presentation from a Cincinnati Ballet representative\, and backstage tours will be available to a limited number of attendees on a first-come\, first-served basis.This event is open to young professionals across the Greater Cincinnati region.\n\n\n\n Copp lia is based on original stories by E.T.A. Hoffman in which a toymaker\, Dr. Copp lius\, creates a doll (Copp lia) so lifelike that a young villager\, Franz\, becomes infatuated with her from afar. This causes a quarrel with his fianc  Swanhilda\, who decides to investigate further\, discovering that Copp lia is actually a doll. Swanhilda then acts as the doll and pretends to come to life\, tricking Dr. Copp lius\, and revealing to Franz the error of his ways.\n\n\n\nThis comedic story of love and mistaken identities features the technically challenging and charming original choreography of former Cincinnati Ballet resident choreographer Kirk Peterson. The treasured ballet classic is set to a melodic score by French composer L o Delibes\, played by the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra\, conducted by Maestro Carmon DeLeone.\n\n\n\n Copp lia was last performed by Cincinnati Ballet in 2001. This masterwork was originally choreographed by Arthur St. L on in Paris in 1870. It was restaged by Marius Petipa in St. Petersburg in 1884 and has since experienced countless interpretations. \n\n\n\n* Please note\,  tickets can be purchased on a first-come\, first-served basis through the EACC  for $37.50 until October 14.
