SUMMARY:Join Apoyo Latino: Greater Cincinnati Latino Coalition for a virtual monthly meeting
DESCRIPTION:Our topic will be COVID-19\, language access and Latino health care disparities. We will have two presenters:\n\n\n	Eliseo J. Perez-Stable\, M.D.\, Director of the National Institute on Minority Health and Health Disparities at the National Institutes of Health. He oversees the Institute's appropriated budget of $335.8 million to advance the science of minority health and health disparities. Under this framework\, the Institute conducts and supports research programs to advance knowledge and understanding of mechanisms to improve minority health\, identifies and understands health disparities and develops effective interventions to reduce these disparities in community and clinical settings.\n	Litz Main\, Director of Language Services at Catholic Charities Southwestern Ohio. She will talk about interpretation in the medical setting. Litz holds a BA in business administration and project management specialization from the Universidad del Norte in Colombia. After training to be a qualified interpreter in 2015\, she became passionate about bridging the language gap in Cincinnati and interpreted in community and medical settings for over a year. In 2016\, Litz joined Catholic Charities SW OH as the director of its only social enterprise. Instead of bringing a trainer onboard\, Litz took it upon herself to become an interpreter trainer as part of her plan to improve the quality of interpreting service delivered to immigrants and service providers. Since then\, she has trained over 200 qualified medical and community interpreters.\n\n\n\n\nWe request that you submit your RSVP and questions for our speaker in advance via this link: https://forms.gle/BNZnTttXbE3KcuVo9\n\n\n\nPlease continue to visit our website: www.cincinnatilatino.org to find COVID-19 related resources to serve the Hispanic community.
