Dr. Elizabeth Hinton\, associate professor of history and African American Studies at Yale University\, is the author of several books and articles on the persistence of poverty\, racial inequality and urban violence in the 20th century United States. Her latest book\, America on Fire: The Untold History of Police Violence and Black Rebellion Since the 1960s\, will be the topic of her discussion at the Freedom Center. In it\, she illustrates how Black rebellion was born in response to poverty\, exclusion and police violence.
