DESCRIPTION:Nearly 60 years ago\, the Loyola Ramblers of Chicago broke racial barriers and changed college basketball forever. A new documentary tells the story of the legendary team and is being screened at the National Underground Railroad Freedom Center as part of their Freedom Film Series.\n\n\n\nThe Loyola Project pairs archival footage with modern day interviews to reexamine the 1963 Loyola Ramblers team and how they fought for equality on the basketball court and inspired people around the country during the height of the Civil Rights Movement. Following the screening\, the films director\, Patrick Creadon\, and former University of Cincinnati basketball player and Olympic Gold Medalist George Wilson will engage in a discussion on race\, sports and competing for equality.\n\n \n\nTickets are $15 and available now with both an in-person option or streaming option available.\n\nPurchase tickets at www.otrfilmfest.org/freedom-film-series-tickets/\n\n \n\nThe Freedom Film Series is a partnership between the National Underground Railroad Freedom Center and LADD Inc. that uses film to address issues of systemic injustice.
