15th Annual Bethesda Lyceum
Keeping with the LYCEUM´s tradition of thought provoking speakers we are pleased to welcome Adam Steltzner.
Portrayed by the media as a "rock and roll" engineer, Adam Steltzner was Landing Lead for the Mars Curiosity Rover, a project he spent ten years designing and building.
Currently with NASA´s Jet Propulsion Laboratory, Steltzner has worked on several flight projects including: Galileo, Cassini, Mars Pathfinder, and Mars Exploration Rovers. With a unique, exciting and inspiring narrative, Steltzner, a recognized TED Speaker, discusses the power of human curiosity and the importance of fostering a culture of collaborative innovation. His book, The Right Kind of Crazy - A True Story of Teamwork and High Stakes Innovation, released in January 2016, has already garnered critical acclaim.
The proceeds from this year´s LYCEUM will benefit the development of a Robotic Center of Excellence at Bethesda North Hospital. Robotic surgery is an innovative technology that allows surgeons to perform routine and complex surgeries through a few small openings; decreasing invasiveness and improving patient outcomes. Bethesda North Hospital is embracing this next frontier in minimally invasive surgery by adding the newest and most advanced robotic surgical system, the daVinci Xi.
