Join us for an evening with author and journalist Kristen Green to discuss her latest book The Devil’s Half Acre: The Untold Story of How One Woman Liberated the South’s Most Notorious Slave Jail.
Green will explain how she drew upon years of research to uncover the inspiring story of Mary Lupkin, who survived enslavement and began what was to become Virginia Union University. This is a story of the resilience of a woman on the path to freedom, her historic contributions, and her enduring legacy.
