'How the U.S. 'lost' South America'
Hal Weitzman is Financial Times’ Chicago and Midwest Bureau Chief. He started as FT Op-ed editor (2000), became Americas News Editor in 2002, and was FT’s Andes bureau chief from 2004-2007. While based in Lima and reporting from Peru, Bolivia, Ecuador, Venezuela and Chile, Hal appeared in the Los Angeles Times, Miami Herald, New Statesman, Irish Times, Australian and Jane’s Foreign Report. From Wales, he attended Harvard’s Kennedy School of Government; Oriel College/Oxford; and Leeds University. Latin Lessons is his first book. The dinner/discussion will be an off-the-record, intimate setting prior to the open public talk to follow at 7:30.
