National Hispanic Heritage Month - Virtual Conversation with Mr.Domingo Garcia
MR. GARCIA’S life spans decades of hard work and sacrifice. Born to Mexican immigrants,
Garcia earned his way from shoeshine boy to the Statehouse of Texas as an elected lawmaker.
He rose to become one of Texas’ most visible newsmakers as the youngest Mayor Pro-Tem
of Dallas. Garcia dreamed of his own future and went on to protect America’s Dreamers. As
author of Texas’ laws, he was the first in the nation to protect immigrant students.
Garcia has also served as an editorial columnist, broadcast commentator and highly
successful trial lawyer for 30 years. He is the current national president of the
League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC). He was elected in 2018 and
has been on the frontlines of civil rights battles ever since.
