Tech Needs Us
We're looking for People of color and/or Women, ages 18-35 !
Have you ever had an idea for an app? Does the idea of learning how to build apps excited you! Are you interested in learning what all the Tech Industry hype is about? Have lack of : finances, resources and/or opportunities kept you from learning more and exploring the Tech Industry? Has access to Childcare and/or transportation been a constant barrier you've had to overcome? Can you make a commitment of 2 days a week ( 2 hours per day) for 7 weeks? Do you like snacks and and like meeting new people? If you answered YES- We'd LOVE to have you join us!
Tech Needs Us is a 7- week technology boot camp designed to :
• Equip women/young people of color from marginalized communities with skills to learn how to develop and/or code and gain relevant skills in the Tech Industry.
• Close the digital divide by providing access, resources and opportunities to resilient individuals with a penchant for Technology!
• Equip participants with technical and entrepreneurial leadership skills through hands on relevant learning and mentor-ship from tech professionals.

Facilitators:
- Kai Stoudemire-Williams/Co- FaciLitator/General Electric
Through an individual grant from People's Liberty, Kai founded Curiouser in 2017 which allowed high school students to explore various career opportunities over a 7 week period of time. STEM, Art, Volunteerism and Leadership were the main platforms. Kai founded the Global Learning Project (nonprofit organization) in 2013, and has hosted a 7 week summer enrichment program for the past 5 years! Kai is excited about the opportunity to offer Tech Needs Us, to those who may not otherwise have an opportunity to break into the Tech Industry.

Through an individual grant from People’s Liberty, Dr. Mark founded the Creative App Project in 2015, which developed the first mobile app for the Safe and Supported Initiative, a partnership between Lighthouse Youth Services, Human Rights Campaign, HUD, and many other locally-based partner organizations, aimed at reducing instances of homelessness among teens and young adults.
