Job Title: Assistant Director-Altman Scholars Program

Job Summary:

Assistant Director of the John W. Altman Institute for Entrepreneurship. The Assistant Director will have a range of responsibilities related to advancing the co-curricular, teaching and service activities in the John W. Altman Institute for Entrepreneurship. Primary responsibilities will include direction and management of the Altman Summer Scholars Internship Program, a signature co-curricular offering on the John W. Altman Institute for Entrepreneurship. Duties in this capacity will include cultivation and retention of internship host companies, coaching and advising students primarily in support of the internship program, oversight of philanthropic endowment accounts supporting the Altman Summer Scholars Internship program, delivering student internship training activities including teaching ESP 394, and related internship programmatic activities. The successful candidate will begin employment September 6, 2021.

Duties/Physical Demands:

• Cultivating host company organizations for class projects.
• Cultivating guest speakers, judges, mentors to support curricular and co-curricular activities.
• Developing activities in entrepreneurship including seminars, internships, and classroom projects.
• Supporting co-curricular programs and related activities such as Startup Weekend, Social Innovation Weekend, and World Creativity and Innovation Week, among others.
• Assisting with engagement of Miami alumni founders, funders, and advisors of organizations.
• Assisting with external communications.
• Assisting with student recruiting/retention.
• Assisting with completion of rankings surveys and collection of success measurements.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in business or closely related field; 1 year of experience in business or closely related field and understanding of entrepreneurship (as demonstrated by coursework or professional experience); understanding of internship, co-operative or field-based programs and their related activities; understanding of executive level outreach and cultivation activities; excellent written and oral presentation skills; willingness to work irregular hours including evenings and weekends; ability to adapt within an entrepreneurial start-up environment; and willingness to travel. Desired Qualifications:

Consideration may be given to candidates with a M.B.A. or advanced degree in a closely related field and at least 2 years of experience in business or related field; experience with internship, co-operative or field-based programs and their related activities; experience with external corporate relations and/or executive level outreach and cultivation activities; experience with startups, venture capital, social entrepreneurship, impact investing, corporate innovation, or creativity in entrepreneurial ecosystems; and experience developing and promoting new programs or events.
