Job Title: Assistant/Associate Professor (tenure track)

Job Summary:
Assistant/Associate Professor (tenure track) to teach architecture related courses, conduct research that leads to publications and/or design projects, advise students, and provide service to the department, division, and institution. Service may include oversight of the departmental graduate studies program. The department is seeking a dynamic, experienced architectural educator who will sustain and advance a growing Master of Architecture program through curricular development, innovative teaching, and active promotion. This candidate will play a central role in recruiting talented and diverse graduate student candidates to our M. Arch 2 and M. Arch 3 cohorts. Position begins August 2023.

The Department of Architecture and Interior Design offers a NAAB-accredited Master of Architecture , a, a pre-professional BA in Architecture, and a CIDA-accredited professional BFA in Interior Design within a studio-based culture of experiential learning in the College of Creative Arts (CCA). We strive to provide students rigorous professional preparation within the context of a nationally recognized liberal arts university.

Our program of Graduate Studies in Architecture provides a context for teaching and learning that focuses on the intrinsic relationship of the design disciplines in all their material and professional ramifications with the lives of human beings in the built and natural environment as they embrace personal, social, political, economic, and cultural concerns.  The M.Arch. thesis experience perhaps best illustrates the synthesis between students’ theoretical and practical learning. During this year long thesis activity, students explore a broad range of theoretical discourse and research methods as a vehicle for articulating a thesis position. The ideas explored in the written thesis become the framework for the ARC702 design thesis. Students defend both the written and design theses in front of nationally and internationally known thesis respondents.
