Job Summary:

The Associate Director of Campus Engagement is responsible for managing the event planning process for all events hosted in the Armstrong Student Center, and is primarily responsible for events hosted by campus departments and off-campus entities (e.g. camps/conferences, weddings, etc.). Additionally, this position maintains and cultivates positive campus relationships with key stakeholders critical to the success of the Armstrong Student Center—this includes departments within the Division of Student Life, Campus Services, Enrollment Management & Student Success, University Advancement, academic colleges, and administrative departments. Finally, the Associate Director is responsible for the supervision and development of the Commuter Resource Center located within the Armstrong Student Center.

Duties/Physical Demands:

Manages reservations and meets with campus departments or off-campus entities hosting events in the Armstrong Student Center to ensure clear event setup expectations and smooth event implementation
Coordinates high quality customer service to patrons utilizing the facilities, services, and events; advises guests on the elements of successful event planning
Directly manages the Commuter Resource Center; including supervision of student staff (Commuter Center Assistants) and advising the Commuters of Miami (C0M) student organization
Coordinates comprehensive marketing and communication efforts on behalf of the office, including management of department website, branding elements, and serves on the Division of Student Life Communications Team
Responsible for Event Management Systems (EMS) software setup, troubleshooting, and upgrades
Organizes and implements the annual Priority Scheduling process for signature events and key stakeholders
Supervises a full-time Assistant Director of Student Organization Engagement and collaborates with other office staff members to ensure implementation of departmental initiatives
Effectively coordinates and communicates event details and support needs to the event operations staff
Collaborates with Conference & Event Services to ensure a seamless event production experience for all guests hosting events in the Armstrong Student Center
Applies policies equitably and recognizes unusual requirements
Works on a team in a collaborative environment
Other duties and as required

Minimum Qualifications:

Master's Degree in student development, higher/adult education, student personnel, business or closely related field, and at least three years of full-time related professional experience which provides the following knowledge, skills, and abilities:
Demonstrated experience facilitating learning environments and knowledge of student development theories
Demonstrated experience in event planning
Demonstrated ability to foster collaborative campus partnerships
Demonstrated experience providing outstanding customer service
Demonstrated commitment to valuing diversity and contributing to an inclusive environment
Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
Must be willing and able to work nights and weekends as needed to support events and activities
Must be willing to serve in an on-call professional staff member rotation

Desired Qualifications:

Five years of closely related full-time experience in a higher education environment
Proficiency in Event Management Systems (EMS) reservation software
Knowledge of Microsoft Visio diagram software
Knowledge of college union policies and procedures related to event production and customer service
Supervision experience of paraprofessional student staff and full-time professional staff
Experience with web editing, design principles, and comprehensive communication/marketing plans
Strong problem solving and critical thinking skills
