Clinical Rotations Coordinator AHEC

Gateway Community & Technical College invites applications for the Clinical Rotations Coordinator AHEC (Area Health Education Center). The Clinical Rotations Coordinator will arrange, schedule, and coordinate clinical rotations with local practitioners/faculty members for students from the University of Kentucky College of Medicine, University of Louisville School of Medicine, Pikeville College of Osteopathic Medicine, as well as various other health professions students from the above universities and colleges.  Maintain regular communication with students, University course coordinators, and local practitioners for scheduling, credentialing prior to rotations, arranging student housing, and acquiring required forms and evaluations. Duties:
  • Plan, schedule, and coordinate medical student, PA, PT, Pharmacy, Dietetics, Dental, and other allied health professions’ student clinical rotations for the Universities of Kentucky and Louisville, and Pikeville College of Osteopathic Medicine, and maintain close communication with University/college coordinators when arranging rotations.
  • Obtain all credentialing materials from students, and orient students to the rotation site and practitioner/faculty member. 
  • Maintain close communication and information sharing with local practitioners/faculty members, physician office and clinic managers, and the Medical Staff offices at St. Elizabeth Healthcare and St. Elizabeth Physicians Group for scheduling student rotations in those facilities.
  • Identify and enlist new clinical sites and practitioners for teaching, in collaboration with University/college course coordinators.
  • Orient new practitioners/faculty members to the teaching expectations of the respective University/college programs.
  • Maintain accurate records of all student clinical rotations, and enter applicable data in various student databases such as Navigator. 
  • Produce reports of student activity for quarterly and yearly reporting.
  • Maintain a database of approved housing sites for students, and schedule students into the housing as needed.
  • Identify and enlist new housing sites, ensure that the housing meets all requirements, and obtain all required credentialing for the site.
  • Assist programs and staff at Gateway Community & Technical College (GCTC) to advance recruitment, growth, and development of health occupations within the college.
  • Collaborate and participate in GCTC events as needed.
  • Assist AHEC Center Director and staff in preparing and facilitating AHEC events such as summer camps, Scholars, NKY HC Showcase, Explorers, etc.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree, or equivalent.
  • One year of relevant experience.
  • Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  • Experience in and understanding of the importance of working with students from diverse populations. 
  • Excellent organizational skills; high attention to detail; independent; self-motivated; able to work in a fast-paced, changing environment.  
  • Excellent interpersonal skills; ability to communicate with many individuals at all levels throughout the internal college environment as well as external business and community partners, representing his/herself in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Ability to communicate clearly verbally and, in writing.
  • Ability to multi-task, work under deadlines, and prioritize projects to meet deadlines with high levels of efficiency and accuracy. 
  • Must have proficient computer skills in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook

 Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree, or equivalent.
  • Three years of relevant experience.
  • Health care experience.
  • Teaching experience.
  • Experience in and understanding of the importance of working with students from diverse populations. 
  • Experience working at the community college level.

Anticipated start date: June 2021
