Job Title: Student Success Coach

Job Summary:
The Student Success Coach will serve as a mentor and coach dedicated to dual credit students admitted into the Early College Academy. The Student Success Coach will provide direct student contact through academic advising, coaching, and teaching college success and learning strategy courses. Based on the assessed need, the Student Success Coach will refer students to receive enhanced academic services. This position reports to the Director of Dual Credit Programs and will collaborate with K-12 partners and university colleagues working with the ECA students.

Duties/Physical Demands:

The Student Success Coach will:

  • Hold weekly advising meetings with ECA students at both Miami and offsite ECA locations
  • Help ECA students develop skills, behaviors and habits that contribute to success in college
  • Help ECA students address individual learning needs to increase achievement and persistence
  • Represent Miami at information sessions to promote the dual enrollment programs
  • Act as a referral source for institutional resources to ensure student success
  • Work with the Regional Office of Student Activities and Orientation to develop orientation and program activities for Early College Academy students
  • Collaborate with staff and faculty to promote the planning of new academic pathways
  • Coordinate and develop wrap-around services for each student
  • Assist in identifying and/or selecting eligible students to participate in the program
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree and two years of experience advising, counseling, coaching, teaching or otherwise providing holistic student support in an education institution environment; familiarity with dual credit programs.
  • Position not eligible for H-1B sponsorship.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Consideration will be given to applicants who are familiar with Ohio’s College Credit Plus program and have experience in the development and implementation of special programs or workshops for low-income, first-generation students, and/or other groups of underserved student population. Demonstrated ability to understand the needs of student populations historically underserved by higher education (i.e. low-income, first generations, etc.). Ability to work a flexible schedule that might include occasional nights. Demonstrated ability to learn and communicate detailed policies and procedures. Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
