The School of Education in the College of Professional Sciences at Xavier University invites applications for a Teaching Professor faculty position to support its programs in the Montessori Teacher Education Program. Xavier University Montessori Institute currently offers undergraduate and graduate degrees in Montessori Education with American Montessori Society credentials, in addition to hosting a Montessori Lab school.

The School of Education offers degree programs in early, middle, and secondary education, special education, educational leadership, and a doctoral degree in Educational Administration and Leadership Studies. The School of Education is supported by the College of Professional Sciences, which also offers undergraduate and graduate degree programs in the social sciences and health-related disciplines.

The available position is a non-tenure track Teaching Professor position in the Montessori Teacher Education Program. Duties will include leadership in the Montessori teacher education program as the Program Director, teaching undergraduate and graduate students, field observation of Montessori interns, and advising Montessori teacher education students. Other responsibilities may include development of programming, accreditation responsibilities, coordination and oversight of summer and academic year (fall and spring semester) programming, and consulting and collaborating with the Montessori Lab School.

The successful applicant will maintain active membership in national or international Montessori organizations, demonstrate a commitment to serving a diverse student body, and cultivate partnerships with the community, School of Education, and University entities furthering the Xavier Mission.

Qualifications for this position include a master’s degree in education or a related field, AMS or AMI credentials at the 3-6 level and 6-12 level, Montessori classroom experience of 5 or more years, evidence of successful university level teaching, and eligibility for Ohio licensure.

Desirable qualifications include teaching experience in Montessori pedagogy, doctorate in education or related field, experience with online learning management systems, and online teaching experience.
