Cintrifuse is dedicated to making Greater Cincinnati the #1 Startup ecosystem in the Midwest. We’re here to connect and catalyze tech startups with our extensive network. We inspire ideas, empower founders, lure talent, and attract investors in ways that make our region a magnet for entrepreneurs and innovators worldwide. We enable the activation, development, and growth of Startups by strategically leveraging and connecting a network of partners, all committed to expanding innovation and entrepreneurship across the region. To better understand the Cintrifuse model, review our 2022 Impact Report as well as our October 2022 Annual Meeting video and written recap.
Through its SEC-registered investment advisor (Cintrifuse Fund Management, LLC), Cintrifuse has over $180 million of assets under management for two strategic “fund of funds”. Cintrifuse is presently drawing from 36 unique Limited Partner accounts (e.g. P&G, Kroger, Western & Southern) and participating in 22 Venture Capital Fund Managers including Greycroft, Lerer Hippeau, Revolution, Mercury, Madrona, Refinery, and Atomic. We recently completed a 10-year assessment of Cintrifuse’s impact in our innovation ecosystem. We are launching a third fund anchored to the following strategic priorities:
1. Enhance the Cincinnati startup ecosystem:
a. Support local fund managers with regional strategies
b. Ensure formation of new startups that create jobs in the region
c. Attract more outside capital and talent to the region
d. Nurture, grow, scale, and retain the next major employer
e. Increase Corporate engagement
2. Preserve Limited Partner Capital
3. Win with focus in strategic verticals (Supply Chain, Sustainability, Fintech, Health Care and Diversity)
Fund Design and Focus:
Addressing the recommendations coming out of our recent and comprehensive strategy assessment, the Cintrifuse Syndicate Fund model will be a hybrid fund-of-funds approach that includes both early-stage fund investing (both local and national Venture Capital Fund Managers) and direct investing. The early-stage fund investing has a specific focus on areas of priority to the Cincinnati region such as Supply Chain, Sustainability, FinTech, Health Care and Diversity as well as support of local funds headquartered in the region. The direct investment program is focused on local startups raising Pre-seed, Seed, or Series A rounds. The investment strategy also calls for the creation of a Venture Studio to accelerate venture worthy startups in key strategic sectors, as well as value added services fully oriented towards supporting startups and Venture Capital Fund Managers throughout their growth.
About the Role:
We are seeking a purpose-driven, mission-focused, innovation-minded, and highly collaborative leader to join as Fund Manager of Cintrifuse Fund Management and the Cintrifuse Syndicate Fund. The Fund Manager is a trusted steward of our capital, a game-changing innovator with our partners, and a startup-minded catalyst of our ecosystem. The Fund Manager will report directly to the Cintrifuse CEO, will be a member of the Leadership Team and will manage a small team. The Fund Manager is considered an Access Person for the Fund. As an SEC registered investment adviser, all access persons of the Fund are required to comply with the rules and regulations of the Investment Advisers Act of 1940 and report on the firm’s code of ethics. Investment choices are made under the counsel and oversight of an external advisory body.
Some of the things you’ll do:
? Fund III Launch and Delivery: The Fund Manager will oversee the launch of Cintrifuse Fund III in Q1 2023 and future fundraises. This will involve finalizing the organizational structure, hiring additional team members, and navigating all legal and regulatory requirements.
? Fund I and Fund II Management: The Fund Manager will be responsible for sustaining, including management and administration of two funds with over $180 million currently under management; portfolio development, fund operations and diligence (reporting, capital calls, and distribution).
? Direct Investing: The Cintrifuse Syndicate Fund will be participating in Pre-seed, Seed, or Series A rounds. This is a vital component of generating growth and scale of new technologies and life sciences capabilities in the region. The Fund Manager will be responsible for overseeing this program to ensure it is able to select strong investment opportunities and manage their successful outcomes.
? Startup Connections to Drive Corporate Innovation/Growth: Working with the CEO, the Fund Manager will ensure Venture Capital Fund Managers and startup investments are mapped to corporate innovation needs and opportunities; additional dotted-line resources will support this effort.
? Venture Studio Design and Investment: Working with the CEO, and with input from the Director of Startup Services, the Fund Manager will lead the strategy to recruit, identify, and implement a winning venture studio model to stand-up more startups in the region.
We’re looking for someone who is:
? An exceptional financial manager and steward with at least 7-10+ years in fund and/or financial management including legal compliance
? Mission focused with the goal to be a nationally and globally recognized tech startup hub
? Experienced supporting and investing in early-stage startups, and a track record for driving results
? Subject matter expert or willingness to become an expert in our strategic focus areas of Supply Chain, Sustainability, FinTech, Health Care and Diversity
? Proven relationship builder, collaborator, communicator, and connector. Demonstrated success in working with multidisciplinary teams
? Able to excel working in a fast-moving, lean-startup work environment
? Bachelor’s degree(s) in one or more financial disciplines; MBA preferred
What will set you apart:
? Ability to serve as persuasive thought-leader in articulating future tech and business model trends and their implications
? Demonstrated knowledge of current venture and startup landscape in Greater Cincinnati
? Direct experience in venture capital and/or as a founder
