What you will be doing
The Vice President, Head of Valuation will supervise the Leads for each product line as well as the Line Actuaries. The Vice President is responsible for building relationships with information technology, internal audit, finance, investments, enabling risk to function as a true business partner with other business units at Constellation and AuguStar Financial. The incumbent will be responsible for overseeing the actuarial financial reporting processes across all insurance related products and legal entities for GAAP, STAT, Tax, and potentially IFRS.
Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Analyze operations to evaluate the performance of an area or its staff in meeting objectives, determine areas of potential cost reduction, program improvement or policy change
- Direct, plan, and/or implement policies, goals, objectives or activities of organizations or businesses to ensure continuing operations, to maximize returns on investments, to ensure expense management and/or to increase productivity
- Thoroughly understand methodologies and procedures in the actuarial financial reporting process with the ability to modify as necessary
- Provide thought leadership in analyzing and anticipating changes to GAAP, Stat, Tax, and IFRS laws, regulations, and guidelines. Remain current on all changes regarding financial reporting and regulatory changes
- Partner with the Special Projects team to refine processes to administer the actuarial financial reporting process efficiently and effectively
- Assist and validate the valuation methodology used for pricing
- Assist in the assumption setting process and sit on the assumption setting committee
- Monitor new product development and ensure financial reporting processes are properly adjusted to support new products

What you need to be successful
- Must be an FSA, MAAA, with 10+ years of experience, primarily in financial reporting
- Previous leadership experience
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Experience with Microsoft Office
