Job Title: Coordinator, Financial Assistance
Hours Per Week: 40

Job Summary:
This professional staff member reports to Associate Director. This staff member will participate in efforts to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of the Financial Assistance systems. Duties also include support of student information systems, including FAFSA data loads, communications, federal verification, document management and customer service and support.

This position may be approved for remote work on a hybrid basis. Remote work is not a right, but a working arrangement that can be modified or revoked by Miami University at any time for any reason.


Duties/Physical Demands:

  • Responsible for FAFSA data provided to the University. This includes loading all data into the financial aid software system daily; ensuring the accuracy of the data by utilizing various reports; analyzing and resolving conflicting FAFSA information with little to no oversight.
  • Assist with the creation and maintenance of AppWorx jobs
  • Responsible for departmental mailings which will include the creation of documents, update of data, compilation and merging of information for print and electronic mailings.
  • Assist with federal verification, document management processing and sorting, scanning and indexing student files, when required. Create and run Microsoft Access, BI and SQL developer reports
  • Maintain a basic working knowledge of federal financial aid regulations and eligibility criteria.
  • Performs financial assistance counselor duties when needed.
  • Functions as backup for other system staff when they are unavailable.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 3 years of experience in higher education operations, technology or business setting or an Associate’s Degree and one year of experience in higher education operations, technology or business setting or a Bachelor’s Degree
  • Data entry experience
  • Organizational skills, including the ability to manage time, prioritize work, and handle multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Ability to work independently with minimal direct supervision

Desired Qualifications:

  • 5+ years supporting student financial assistance processes and staff
  • Experience with ad hoc reporting (MS Access, BI and SQL Developer)

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Organizational skills, including the ability to manage time, prioritize work, and handle multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Ability to work independently with minimal direct supervision
