Job Title: Dir Student Affairs Budgt/Tech
Salary/Grade: $80000 - $85000
Hours Per Week: 40

Job Summary:
Support the Vice President for Student Life and the divisional leadership team (Associate/Assistant Vice Presidents and directors) in managing their office and the university budgets, human resources processes, and technology needs.

Duties/Physical Demands:

  • Develop, monitor, and forecast the $19M budget for the division of Student Life, across 15 offices, including E&G (general), designated (fee), auxiliary, and restricted (gift) accounts;
  • Assist departmental directors in development and monitoring of departmental budgets. Train directors on use of university tools to monitor financial status.
  • Liaison with business functions of the university, including but not limited to human resources, general counsel, purchasing, and accounts payable, to provide training, support, and problem solving for divisional employees.
  • Assist directors to facilitate university Human Resource processes.
  • Monitor and approve expenditures across the division above $10,000.
  • Work with the Strategic Procurement office on purchasing processes, including delegated contract signing authority up to $10,000 for the division.
  • Liaison with Information Technology to represent divisional interests and priorities.
  • Participate in IT project development as the representative for Student Life, delegating responsibility when appropriate.
  • Work with division representatives and campus partners to assess, maintain, and upgrade divisional technology including, but not limited to, computer hardware, software, and third party systems (SAAS).
  • Serve on the divisional assessment committee, provide support for key performance indicators, data collection and analysis, and strategic outcomes related to divisional assessment activities.
  • Support student government with budgeting and planning requests.
  • Coordinate the reconciliation process for student health insurance billing working closely with appropriate campus offices (Bursar, IT, others) and the university’s health insurance vendor.
  • Liaison with facilities and represent division on university-wide planning Space Utilization Group (utilization and approval committee).
  • Hire and supervise student employees to assist on projects, as needed.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree and at least 3 years of post-bachelor’s experience managing complex budgets

Desired Qualifications:

  • Undergraduate or graduate degree in business or related field and 5 years post-bachelor’s work experience
  • Experience developing, managing and forecasting budgets
  • Familiarity with HR processes
  • Knowledgeable about technology needs of offices within higher education, ideally in a student life division

  • Ability to prioritize and multitask among competing demands
  • Ability to quickly and accurately digest and interpret large amounts of data; advanced experience with spreadsheet programs; experience with accounting
  • Good communication and organizational skills; committed to being responsive and meeting deadlines
  • Ability to seamlessly transition between projects that are strategic and longer-term in nature, and smaller, time-limited tasks and requests
  • Commitment to continual learning to stay up to date on trends and technologies related to the role and responsibilities
