About the Health Sciences Library
The Health Sciences Library offers educational services and robust collections to support teaching and learning at the Academic Health Center. The HSL provides a broad range of services from reference and research consultation to class instruction to requesting articles or borrowing materials through an Interlibrary Loan and Document Delivery service.
The IT department of the Health Sciences Library supports the computing needs of students, faculty, and staff, facilitates student exams, provides technical support for enterprise software, and manages resources and services in computer labs, electronic classrooms, and lecture halls.
About the Office of Medical Education
The Office of Medical Education serves the educational needs of over 700 medical students, providing central coordination of the curriculum and ensuring that all operational matters of the MD program are compliant with accreditation standards outlined by the Liaison Committee on Medical Education (LCME). The College of Medicine is part of the Academic Health Center and also serves undergraduate and graduate students as well as resident physicians.
Job Overview
This position oversees and manages all University of Cincinnati College of Medicine online assessments and testing. This position works with faculty on assessment structural design/set-up; scheduling; student registration; administration and scoring of assessments; provides statistical data on each assessment to course directors; provides technical support (including technology evaluations) for medical students; supervises and provides direction and leadership for all Health Sciences Library IT projects; and coordinates the design, installation, configuration, support, and maintenance of Health Sciences Library computer lab and electronic classrooms. This position has joint reporting lines to the UC Libraries Chief Technology Officer and the Health Sciences Library Director.
Essential Functions
- Supervises and provides direction and leadership for all Health Sciences Library IT projects.
- Manages enterprise system container access and use (SSCM, Trellix, Active Directory).
- Oversees HSL conference rooms and electronic classrooms, including hardware and software upgrades.
- Manages digital learning equipment, software upgrades, and license renewals.
- Oversees device support and arranges for loaner computers.
- Directs library printing services, including wide-scale (poster) printing and WEPA printing kiosks.
- Maintains department business continuity documentation.
- Administers and supports College of Medicine online computer-based testing systems (Examsoft, Questionmark, NBME) including exam day support for faculty and students.
- Generates all exam results and statistical and coaching reports for College of Medicine faculty and the Office of Medical Education.
- Writes and maintains training and user documentation and guides.
- Manages physical spaces and equipment that are designated for medical students and teaching faculty.
- Serves as the Exammaster portal administrator and point of contact.
- Creates and supports medical center listservs.
- Maintains and distributes use statistics; creates annual narrative report regarding the College of Medicine Service Level Agreement and MOU.
- Provides information as requested for accreditation needs or other institutional purposes.
- Supervises three FTE staff.
- Hires, supervises, and evaluates student IT workers and IT help desk.
Required Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, or related field.
- Eight (8) years of relevant work experience and/or other specialized training can be used in lieu of education requirement.
Required Trainings/Certifications
- Valid driver's license.
Required Experience
- Four (4) years relevant experience.
- Previous supervision experience.
Additional Qualifications Considered
- Previous IT experience in an academic environment.
- Experience with online testing software, specifically Examsoft and Questionmark Perception.
- Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal skills.
- Flexibility in adapting to change.
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
Physical Requirements/Work Environment
- Office environment/no specific unusual physical or environmental demands.
