Bilingual Family and Volunteer Specialist

Casa de Paz is a non-profit transitional housing program dedicated to predominantly Latina survivors of intimate partner violence and their children. Our mission is to provide comprehensive and individualized services that promote healing, empowerment, and sustained independence for our residents through culturally sensitive programming.

Position Summary: Casa de Paz seeks a qualified candidate to support our programming and provide specialized services for families and volunteers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with staff and the board to identify volunteer needs
  • Support volunteer recruitment efforts
  • Screen and train volunteers
  • Maintain an organized volunteer database and timely file records
  • Work with staff to create and manage volunteer schedules
  • Supervise and support volunteers
  • Provide childcare when volunteers are unavailable
  • Develop and implement age-appropriate programming for children as needed
  • Assist in transporting residents to appointments and programming
  • Interpret phone calls/or appointments for residents
  • When childcare is not needed, support women residents with programming and on-site assistance during the evenings i.e. self sufficiency workshops
  • Provide trauma informed interventions and support
  • Complete intake and screening for new residents
  • Provide on-call support as required and scheduled
  • Perform minor housekeeping or maintenance tasks as required
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor

Working Conditions and Requirements:

  • 40 hours per week, generally Sunday through Thursday or Tuesday through Saturday. Must have evening and weekend availability. Flexibility in hours from week to week is needed based on need.
  • Onsite work required at the Casa de Paz transitional home
  • Work may also occur at various locations, including playgrounds, recreational sites, and doctor’s offices
  • Physical requirements include occasional lifting of furniture and objects up to 25 pounds, and the ability to climb stairs as the facility lacks an elevator
  • Have a valid driver’s license with good driving record, reliable transportation and auto insurance

Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:

  • Experience working with families, children, or providing social services to individuals of Latin American heritage
  • Bachelor’s degree in early childhood education, Social Work, Human Services, or a related field is preferred or equivalent education and experience
  • Fluency in both English and Spanish
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Effective communication with superiors, volunteers, and other stakeholders
  • Proficiency in basic computer tasks (e.g., Email, Microsoft Word, Google Docs, use of databases)
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with families, volunteers, and professionals

Must pass a background check.
