Mercy Montessori Center

About Us

Founded in 1969 as Cincinnati’s first Catholic Montessori elementary school, Mercy Montessori is an independent school supported by the Sisters of Mercy, educating children ages 3 through 8th grade. Located in East Walnut Hills, our school welcomes families from more than 60 neighborhoods across Greater Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky.

We accept and respect each child as a unique individual, celebrating diverse religious beliefs, cultural heritages, talents, and capabilities. Our student community embraces children from all racial, ethnic, socioeconomic, and intellectual backgrounds. Our commitment is to prepare students spiritually, academically, emotionally, and physically to become compassionate, independent citizens of the world.

Grounded in Montessori philosophy, we encourage every child to discover their individual purpose and learn at their own pace in an environment where mutual respect and individual differences are deeply valued. Through child-centered classrooms, hands-on outdoor learning at our Farmessori, on-site swim instruction in our campus pool, a mission-driven sliding-scale tuition model, and participation in the Ohio EdChoice and Jon Peterson Scholarship programs, we ensure an exceptional Montessori education is accessible to all families.

Mercy Montessori Center is chartered by the Ohio Department of Education, accredited by the Ohio Catholic Schools Accrediting Association (OCSAA), and a full member school of the American Montessori Society (AMS).
