1950s Day at Cincinnati Museum Center May 3
As many of you may know we host our annual 1940s Day every fall. Fear not, that will still be happening on September 6, 2025. However, due to some amazing timing of the intersection of our incredible featured exhibitions - Julia Child: A Recipe for Life and Barbie: A Cultural Icon - we are excited to dive into the multifaceted decade of the 1950s this spring!
1950s Day will be an immersive celebration in which guests can experience the stories and history of the decade. We are looking to tell as many diverse 1950s stories as possible via history-based community booths, storytelling, musicians, artists, authors, dancers, vintage clothing, vintage vehicles and more. Obviously, we cannot tell these dynamic stories of the decade between WWII and the Civil Rights movements of the 1960s without you! We are especially interested in stories related to the industrial, medical and scientific boom, the vocational boom, the cultural impacts of household technology like televisions and radios, the impact of the suburban sprawl on urban neighborhoods, the Space Race, perspectives from different racial and cultural groups and, of course, fashion.
Below you will find applications to participate in 1950s Day. There are four types, as listed. Please choose the one that fits you best, fill it out and return by March 31, 2025.
- Community Partner = a free booth where an individual or organization shares information (no selling from these booths)
- Vendor = a paid booth where an individual or organization sells 1950s Day related items ($50 fee for all vendors)
- Performer = an artist, dancer, singer, musician, etc. will be performing at 1950s Day
