There’s an attitude of gratitude and a bounty of wonderful events waiting for you this week downtown! Strut your stuffing tomorrow morning at the 115th annual Western & Southern Thanksgiving Day Race! One of the oldest and largest family favorite traditions will bring out thousands of runners and walkers bright and early to work up a holiday appetite on the new and expanded 5K and 10K courses! The quarter mile Kids Fun Run kicks off the race day excitement at 8:30AM followed by the longer distance races, which start together along the east side of TQL Stadium at 9AM. Participants who aren’t running through the finish line and straight to the dessert table at home are invited to stick around and celebrate at the post-race party on the field with food and drinks, music, and a chance to see your face on the stadium’s jumbotron! Trot on over to the registration page and sign up today!
The string lights were hung on the Norway Spruce with care in hopes that Duke Energy's Light Up the Square soon would be there! Cincinnati's annual tree-lighting celebration is back at Fountain Square. On Friday experience the wonder and excitement of the time-honored tradition, which will feature live music, dance performances, an appearance by Santa Claus, and a dazzling fireworks display! The UC Health Ice Rink presented by Fifth Third Bank opens at 10AM, live music starts at 6PM, WLWT's broadcast goes live at 6:30PM, and the memories will last a lifetime! This event is free and open to the public.
Turn up the holiday fun heat on Saturday at The Cincinnati Fire Museum’s fifth annual Santa Rescue! The one-of-a-kind holiday event showcases Santa’s daring rescue from atop the museum roof by the brave firefighters of the Cincinnati Fire Department at 12PM. Viewing the rescue is free and open to the public, but for just the price of museum admission, attendees are welcome to continue the experience inside the museum, where they can enjoy hot chocolate, snacks, a meet and greet with Santa, and experience fire safety and history tours. Tickets are available for advance purchase online!
