International favorites and spring flavors highlight upcoming cooking classes
Monte Cristos, Huevos Rancheros, Biang Biang noodles and more are on the menu; registration for spring Cr(eat)e Culinary Studio programs now open
CINCINNATI – Trade your goggles for an apron and your beakers for a saucepan as Cincinnati Museum Center (CMC) turns the kitchen into a laboratory. CMC’s upcoming Cr(eat)e Culinary Studio cooking classes empower young foodies while expanding their palates and culinary skills with a menu of bold flavors and fresh ingredients. The spring class lineup draws inspiration from around the globe, mixing food, science and culture delicious fashion. Registration is open now.
The Cr(eat)e Culinary Studio featuring the Kroger Food Lab is a versatile programming space outfitted with ovens, ranges, blenders and more. The kitchen becomes a laboratory as you explore the science behind cooking, the chemical reactions that change flavor and textures and the tactile motor skills that make it all possible. But the Cr(eat)e Culinary Studio isn't just about science, it’s also an entry point to our region’s history, food community and world cultures.
Programs are available for kids to cook alone and to cook alongside an adult. Each program invites you to prep and cook your way through classic and experimental recipes while exploring the science and history behind them.

Monte Cristo Sandwich Lab – March 12
Discover the science behind the perfect Monte Cristo! Learn how heat and timing transform simple ingredients into a golden, crispy sandwich with melty cheese inside. Then dive into the sweet science of raspberry preserves as you use sugar, heat and pectin to create a bright, fruity spread. Mix, experiment and taste your delicious results while learning the why behind every step.
Sticky Science Behind Popcorn Balls – April 2
Why does popcorn pop? In this snack-sized food science lab, explore how heat, pressure and moisture turn hard kernels into fluffy popcorn. A little sugar science explores how temperature and timing affect texture as you create a classic popcorn ball. Science has never been so sweet!
Earth Day Snacks – April 16
Celebrate Earth Day by exploring nature’s flavors as you make homemade veggie crackers and a layered black hummus “soil” dip. Learn about healthy ingredients, homegrown flavors and sustainability as you mix, shape and assemble your healthy snacks.
Magic Noodles: Color Changing Science – May 21
Sharpen your knife skills and make a refreshing cold noodle salad while learning how plants create natural colors. Experiment with dyeing noodles, explore the science behind plant pigments and finish with a surprising transformation that turns lunch into a science experiment.

Get ready to roll, shape and cook your very own arepas as you learn the basics of these versatile cornmeal cakes. Experiment with fillings and taste a few classic accompaniments that bring out the best flavors of Colombia and Venezuela.
Spring Celebration: Rhubarb Crisp and Spring Carbonara – April 11
Sauté, mix and bake your way through a spring celebration. Put together a bright, fresh carbonara with tender spring peas and crisp asparagus then bake a delicious rhubarb crisp with a golden, buttery oat topping bursting with springtime flavor.
Brunch Fiesta: Huevos Rancheros – May 9
Spice up your brunch routine as you build a vibrant dish with tasty eggs, zesty sauce and fresh toppings. To finish, prepare arroz con leche, a traditional rice pudding that brings a sweet balance to the meal. A delicious way to explore flavor, technique and tradition.
Stretch and Slurp: Biang Biang Noodles – May 16
