Kroger continues lead sponsorship for third consecutive year; tickets available now

CINCINNATI –  The National Underground Railroad Freedom Center will again honor the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. with their 20th annual King Legacy Celebration and, for the third consecutive year, Kroger is supporting the event as presenting sponsor. The 2025 King Legacy Celebration will take place January 20, 2025 at the Freedom Center.

“We’re grateful for Kroger’s support of our King Legacy Celebration, making our robust program and inspirational call to action possible,” said Woodrow Keown, Jr., president and COO of the National Underground Railroad Freedom Center. “Our community is stronger because of companies like Kroger who are committed to equity and opportunity, and they start right here at home.”

The King Legacy Celebration represents the Freedom Center’s commitment to community unity and is an opportunity to reflect on Dr. King’s enduring message that freedom is a universal and fundamental human right. Though Dr. King believed in the inevitable march to freedom, the decades since his passing have shown it remains a multi-generational pursuit. The Freedom Center’s 2025 King Legacy Celebration will energize the next generation of leaders – drum majors for justice according to Dr. King – as they take the torch and continue the march to freedom.

Kroger’s support as presenting sponsor is helping the Freedom Center build a rousing program that will feature live music performances and a keynote presentation by equity innovator, researcher and documentarian Wendy Ellis, DrPH.

“Kroger is proud to continue our support of the Freedom Center and its King Legacy Celebration for a third year,” said Tim Massa, senior vice president and chief people officer for Kroger. “When we come together to honor Dr. King’s legacy, we help to keep his dream of equality and inclusion alive while also honoring those who fought for justice and uplifting the next generation of leaders.”

The King Legacy Celebration will include a continental breakfast and an opportunity for fellowship before the program begins. Doors open at 8 a.m. with performances and the keynote presentation beginning at 8:30 a.m.

Tickets for the King Legacy Celebration are $50 for the in-person program or $25 for livestream access. Discounted tickets are available for Freedom Center Members at $40 for the in-person program or $20 for livestream access. Tickets are available at freedomcenter.org/klc25.
