Hamilton County Reaches New Heights
Hamilton County has reached new heights in 2024. The implementation of our economic inclusion policies resulting from our Disparity Study continues to go well. Although it has taken several years of preparation and work to get to this point, many of our vendors and community stakeholders are letting us know it was worth it.
For example, our organizational goal for minorities spend is currently 16%, which is based on our Disparity Study availability data of vendors in our relevant market area. We are now on track to meet and even exceed our goal because nearly $8 million dollars have been awarded to minority prime contractors and minority subcontractors in 2024 that will continue into 2025.
The equity framework approach is the key to our success. Put simply, it promotes freedom from bias and favoritism, focuses on fair and equal treatment for all, works to overcome potential organizational and systemic barriers, utilizes culturally relevant services, ensures true community engagement, and empowers all residents and businesses to fully participate in Hamilton County’s services and economic opportunities.
This approach has not only been invaluable to the implementation of our economic inclusion goals, but also to several new initiatives that are positively affecting our small and diverse companies in the region (see below).
