CINCINNATI, OH – Santa Maria Community Services, Inc. announced it will provide much needed school supplies for preschoolers, including Amazon Fire tablets, made possible by a $25,000 grant from the PNC Foundation.
In addition to the Amazon Fire tablets for new students, preschoolers will also receive PNC Grow Up Great® educational materials, school clothing, books, bookshelves and laundry soap. PNC Grow Up Great® is a bilingual $500 million, multi-year initiative to help prepare children from birth to age 5 for success in school and life.
“We are pleased to receive another generous grant from the PNC Foundation,” said H.A. Musser, president and CEO of Santa Maria Community Services. “The results we’ve seen with PNC Grow Up Great have been phenomenal and we look forward to continuing our success with this funding.”
The PNC Foundation grant also will provide funding for the ReadyRosie app and training for staff. ReadyRosie is a research-based parenting curriculum that builds on parents’ knowledge. It harnesses the power of video and mobile technology to empower families and schools to work together to promote school readiness.
“PNC knows birth to age 5 is a critical time in a child’s development,” said Warren Weber, PNC regional president for Greater Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky. “Supporting Santa Maria Community Services offers children and caregivers an invaluable opportunity, to use educational materials and resources to help them succeed in school and in life.”
