CINCINNATI, OH – Santa Maria Community Services, Inc. is joining the Global #GivingTuesday Movement! This Giving Tuesday, Santa Maria will celebrate giving by holding a week-long celebration beginning on Tuesday, November 24, 2020 and culminating on Giving Tuesday, December 1, 2020.
Giving Tuesday is a global generosity movement, unleashing the power of people and organizations to transform their communities and their world. Santa Maria will kick off the generosity season this year by inspiring people to give back from November 24, 2020 through December 1, 2020, and throughout the year.
“Santa Maria hopes to inspire generosity by participating in this week-long celebration of Giving Tuesday,” said H.A. Musser, Jr., President and CEO of Santa Maria Community Services, Inc. “The fundraising goal for the week is $3,000 and a private donor has generously offered to match the first $1,000 in donations! We are so grateful to this private donor and all our supporters for their generosity in 2020. This has been an immensely challenging year and every dollar donated has helped Greater Price Hill families attain their educational, financial, and health goals.”
Giving Tuesday was launched in 2012 as a simple idea: to create a day that encourages people to do good. Over the past eight years, this idea has grown into a global movement that inspires hundreds of millions of people to give, collaborate, and celebrate generosity.
People demonstrate generosity in many ways on Giving Tuesday. Whether it is helping a neighbor or stranger out, showing up for an issue or people we care about, or giving to causes we care about, every act of generosity counts. Giving Tuesday has raised billions of dollars for critical causes around the world and gets 21 billion impressions on social media from people and organizations speaking up for the causes that matter to them and encouraging others to get involved in their communities.
"Giving Tuesday inspires people all around the world to embrace their power to drive progress around the causes they care about, not just on one day but throughout the year." said Asha Curran, Giving Tuesday’s CEO, and co-founder. "With country and community leaders, millions of organizations, and countless givers of all kinds, Giving Tuesday is creating a shared space where we can see the radical implications of a more generous world."
During the week-long celebration, Santa Maria will feature videos from advocates, including:
- John Crompton, Santa Maria Donor
- Lorena Mora-Mowery, Santa Maria Volunteer
- Guillermo Villa, Santa Maria Board Member
- Jon Seymoure, Santa Maria Client and Volunteer; and
- Regine Gordon, Santa Maria Family Advocate.
