Santa Maria Community Services Awarded $50,000 from The Charles H. Dater Foundation, Inc.

CINCINNATI, OH – Santa Maria Community Services is pleased to announce it has been awarded $50,000 from The Charles H. Dater Foundation, Inc. for youth development and general operating expenses.
Santa Maria Community Services’ Youth Development Program provides Lower Price Hill youth ages 10-16 the opportunity to partake in a life/social-emotional skills groups while learning how to develop peaceful conflict resolution, peer resistance, youth safety, bullying prevention, self-management, and goal-directed behavior skills. In addition to life skills development, the program focuses on youth mentoring and leadership through academic assistance and tutoring, age-specific activities, personal responsibility, and optimistic thinking skills. Participants have opportunities to engage in community service projects, and each child’s family is linked to resources that promote family stability while addressing concerns that threaten or hinder the family’s well-being.
Santa Maria’s other services include early childhood development, education advancement, employment assistance, financial stability, Project Advance AmeriCorps, and health and wellness. Santa Maria ensures that children are kindergarten-ready and families attain economic health through job and housing stability. Family members receive Santa Maria’s assistance in achieving health and wellness through access to health services and support programs. Santa Maria’s vision is for Greater Price Hill to be vibrant, thriving, and self-sustaining community.
“This generous grant from The Charles H. Dater Foundation will afford Santa Maria the assistance needed to help Price Hill youth learn how to be more successful in school and in life,” said H.A. Dater Foundation has been supporting Santa Maria’s work for more than 30 years.
