News from Downtown - 07.08.21
If you’re looking for indoor activities for the kids on these hot summer days, I have great news. After temporarily closing during the pandemic, the Children’s Museum at the Cincinnati Museum Center has reopened to the public. The museum’s popular Ice Age Gallery has also reopened, featuring the new Mastodon installation. The museum is open Thursday-Monday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. As a safety precaution, masks are required for all visitors ages 2 and up. To allow for social distancing, timed tickets are required for both members and non-members. To purchase tickets, click here.

If you are interested in astronomy and would like to get a closeup of the night sky, the Cincinnati & Hamilton County Public Library has partnered with the Cincinnati Observatory on a fun and educational program, offering five Orion StarBlast 4.5-inch astronomical telescopes for use by Library cardholders. To borrow a telescope, click here and select an available date. You can reserve a telescope for a 21-day period, and Library staff is available to demonstrate how to properly set up and use the equipment.
If you’re searching for a local source for cocktail ingredients, Downtown Cincinnati-based Northside Distilling has made it more convenient to stop by and grab a bottle of spirits to go, or enjoy a drink at the bar. Beginning this weekend, the distillery will be open every Friday and Saturday evening from 5-10 p.m. To celebrate the FC Cincinnati match against the Columbus Crew tomorrow night, enjoy $5 cocktail specials all evening long.
Visit the new Court Street Plaza on Sunday and check out the second Court Street Cruise In, featuring a classic car show happening from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. While you’re there, order carryout from one of the nearby businesses and enjoy your meal on the plaza. The event will also include live music throughout the day. Local food, classic cars, and live music? That sounds like a perfect Sunday.
