WHAT: Join us for a preview of Cincinnati Museum Center’s newest permanent exhibition, Ancient Worlds Hiding in Plain Sight. The exhibit showcases the museum’s world-class Ordovician fossil collection as it takes you back in time 450 million years to Cincinnati’s prehistoric tropical sea. Meet and speak with Cincinnati Museum Center paleontologists, researchers and exhibit designers and be among the first to see the newest permanent addition to Cincinnati Museum Center.

Ancient Worlds Hiding in Plain Sight transports you back in time 450 million years as you evolve your way through the Paleozoic Era – beginning underwater in the Ordovician Period before making your way firmly onto land in the Carboniferous Period. The gallery will introduce you to iconic fossils of trilobites (Ohio’s official state fossil), giant cephalopods, sea scorpions and the armored, giant-jawed Dunkleosteus. A soundscape immerses you deeper and deeper into the depths of the prehistoric sea and ten-foot-wide monitors turn a portion of the gallery into an ancient aquarium where animated trilobites crawl along the sea floor, fish and conical mollusks swim overhead and Dunkleosteus chases prey. You’ll even be able to get your hands on real fossils at a rock slab packed with ancient invertebrates.

 Ancient Worlds Hiding in Plain Sight is the latest addition to the award-winning roster of exhibits as CMC continues an extensive museum experience refresh funded by its $112 million Champion More Curiosity campaign.
