Long live summertime downtown! This week's events are all about savoring these dwindling August days in the company of friends and community. The 36th annual Midwest Regional Black Family Reunion is back and enlivening the city today through Sunday! The “Dedicated & Determined” themed festival features thoughtfully curated, family-friendly event experiences across the Cincinnati, including speakers and performers, a parade, a job fair, a heritage breakfast, and live music. At Sawyer Point, legendary hip-hop artist Doug E. Fresh takes to the festival stage on Saturday night at 5PM and acclaimed artist and director Ricky Dillard closes out the weekend at Choirfest on Sunday evening. Get ready to conquer the new school year at the Downtown Main Library’s free Back-to-School Resource Fair on Saturday! This one-stop shop will equip students with the tools they need to shine in the new year, including backpacks, notebooks, pencil cases, and more! This is a free event, and everyone is welcome! Families with students of all ages are encouraged to attend. Event hours are 11AM – 2PM.

Roll out to the Riverfront Rink at Sawyer Point to celebrate unity, rhythm, and family at Forward Forever—The Black Roller-Skating Experience! The Saturday evening gathering kicks off at 5PM with a Style of Skating Workshop led by the renowned professional skater and teacher Reggie "Premier" Brown, followed by a lively conversation about the world of skating with featured pro skaters, DJs, roller skating artists, and coordinators until 6PM. When the workshop winds down, the DJs turn up for skate sessions throughout the night. Don't miss out on this special experience and celebrating the everlasting joy of skating! This Tuesday’s got sauce at Fountain Square thanks to a special mid-week performance from singer, rapper, and musician G. Love! During his prolific career, G. Love has covered considerable sonic ground, including collaborations in the studio and on the road with Jack JohnsonSlightly StoopidThe Avett Brothers, and Dave Matthews, just to name a few. Now the Philly-born legend is bringing his talents to the heart of the Fountain District for a free show you don’t want to miss. The show starts at 7PM and no tickets are required!
