This Week Downtown - 11.12.20
With the return of several beloved holiday events happening this weekend, it's beginning to feel like the holidays. Holiday Junction featuring the Duke Energy train display opens tomorrow at the Cincinnati Museum Center, featuring over 300 railcars and 60 locomotives, as well as Brickopolis, a display of LEGO bricks crafted into popular scenes from Disney, Marvel, DC Comics and Harry Potter. New this year is a Northern Lights display, featuring dancing green lights and snow-covered trees, creating a perfect family photo backdrop. Santa Claus will also be visiting on Friday, Nov. 27, so mark your calendars!
This Saturday, visit the Krohn Conservatory for the opening of A Very Merry Garden Holiday, the annual holiday show and one of my favorite traditions to enjoy with friends and family. Go see the botanical garden as it is transformed into a festive city scene, with the return of the train display and miniature versions of Cincinnati landmarks. The show also features the return of the bright red poinsettias and a holiday tree. To purchase tickets, click here.
If you have missed the concert series at Covenant-First Presbyterian Church, you can enjoy the latest performance this Sunday, Nov. 15 at 7 p.m. This recital will feature students from UC’s College-Conservatory of Music, performing selected music on the church’s Austin Pipe Organ, as well as vocal performances of opera classics. This event is free and open to the public. For more information, click here.
For many of us, Thanksgiving will look different this year, and gatherings may be smaller than in years past. If you’re thinking of ditching all the work of a homemade dinner, there are several great Thanksgiving meal options from some of your favorite Downtown Cincinnati restaurants. Prime Cincinnati is offering a special Thanksgiving menu, whether you’re dining in or ordering to-go. Crown Republic is offering a Thanksgiving Meal Kit available for pick-up, as well as Jeff Ruby, Lucius Q, Metropole, Maize OTR, The Phoenix, Ruth’s Chris Steak House, and Tablespoon Cooking Company. The deadlines to submit your orders are quickly approaching, so make your meal plans soon.
