Summary
The Payroll Senior Specialist – Bilingual English/Spanish supports the oversight and execution of payroll processes for field operations across multiple U.S. locations. This role is responsible for ensuring accurate calculation and timely distribution of wages, including overtime, prevailing wages, union rates, and garnishments. The specialist ensures all payroll activities are compliant with federal, state, and international regulations, and that payments are processed and disbursed appropriately and on schedule.

Roles and Responsibilities
The Payroll Senior Specialist– Bilingual English/Spanish will perform the following duties in a safe, productive, and effective manner: 

  • Implements and maintains payroll procedures to ensure accurate and efficient payroll processing
  • Utilizes field payroll systems, including Vista and Paycor, to:
    • Ensure correct application of deductions for union dues, garnishments, and benefit expenses.
    • Apply appropriate pay adjustments to comply with prevailing wage requirements
  • Maintains payroll-related databases and electronic files to support accurate record-keeping
  • Responds to requests for wage verifications, certified payroll reports, union reports, unemployment claims, and CIP (Construction-in-Progress) reporting
  • Assists in preparing special payroll reports for senior leadership as needed
  • Supports team members to improve accuracy and efficiency of payroll operations
  • Ensures proper tax withholding
  • Remains current on relevant payroll laws, regulations, and best practices within the field
Requirements
  • High school diploma, or equivalent with a minimum of five years of relevant experience and/or training; Associate’s degree preferred
  • Must be Bilingual English/Spanish
  • Experience with certified payroll
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Word and Excel
  • Must possess strong customer service skills
  • Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) designation strongly preferred
  • Experience with Vista and Paycor payroll systems is preferred

  • Ability to present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and co-workers
  • Ability to work in a team environment, strong team player
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form
