Bilingual Medical Assistant for Direct Primary Care office
Health Connections Direct Primary Care opened in 2017 to deliver primary care to provide personalized services in a membership model to patients irrespective of insurance or immigration status. We are an INDEPENDENT (not hospital owned) Private Practice and provide a combination of primary care and immigration medical exam services.
This opportunity is PERFECT for someone who :
- Wants to work with patients from different educational, socioeconomic, linguistic and ethnic backgrounds
- Speaks/reads/writes and understands Spanish and English. Bonus if also knows French, Portuguese or Arabic.

This is NOT for someone who:
- Gets frustrated with accents and hates using interpreters
- Doesn't want to work with patients with diabetes, obesity, mental health concerns
- Doesn't want to help others or help problem solve
- Is not comfortable with computers
Looking for a BILINGUAL English/SPANISH assistant to perform administrative and medical assistant tasks in my office. You must be willing to take initiative and be able to work with minimal direction. An interest in a healthy lifestyle, mental health, weight management, diabetes, immigration physicals, is important as is the ability to communicate clearly in both English and Spanish. A desire to work closely with others in a small office is a must.
Responsibilities
- Provide clerical support - answer phones, schedule appointments, draft letters, prepare documents and forms, assist in-office systems.
- Assist with social media, marketing. Knowledge of Go High Level, Canva, Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, LinkedIn helpful.
- Participate in networking activities.
- Greet patients, escort to exam room, obtain chief complaint, vital signs, update and reconcile medication list and document all of above in EHR.
- Assist the physician with medical procedures, draw labs/process specimens, administer immunizations or IM injections, perform EKG’s, administer nebulizers, and perform in-office services consistent with the training of a medical assistant.
- Timely and accurate filing/distribution of all patient information.
- Coordination of care and communication with other medical offices, hospitals, pharmacies and insurance companies as needed.
- Completion of referral process/outpatient test scheduling, and pre-certification/prior authorization as needed.
- Call/portal message/ secure text patients with lab/test results provided by physician and document this communication in the chart.
- Triage patient medical calls or questions for physician and properly document any patient communication with office.
- Maintain compliance with all OSHA/CLIA and HIPAA regulations.
- Perform cleaning, maintenance, and/or sterilization of equipment and instruments.
- Maintain adequate level of supplies in exam room/office and place on list when stock is low.
- Assist in the care and maintenance of office/exam rooms.
- Other duties as requested or assigned.
Qualifications and Skills
- Associate's or bachelor's degree in a medical field preferred, or administrative assistant experience with medical terminology knowledge.
- Native or Near Native fluency in English, and able to communicate clearly in written and spoken Spanish.
- Excellent references.

Physical demands
- Need to be able to assist patients on/off exam table, stoop, squat, reach, hear, speak clearly, kneel, have good manual dexterity, pull, push, sit and walk and stand without limitations.
- The applicant will need to provide proof of immunization or immunity against MMR, Varicella, Tdap, Hepatitis B, Flu and have a negative TB test.
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
Pay: $16.00 - $23.00 per hour
Expected hours: 24 – 40 per week
