Xavier University's Office of Residence Life is seeking applicants for the position of Assistant Director of Housing Operations to assist with the oversight and management of Residence Life housing systems, occupancy management, and other complex administrative functions for 2,300+ residential students.  The ideal candidate will be a professional with excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and ability to creatively problem solve.  The ability to multitask, manage complex scenarios, and think through both short- and long-term planning is essential to the position. 
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Co-manage the centralized assignment of on-campus housing spaces for all residential communities. This includes assisting in the development and implementation of student housing allocation policies based on multiple and sometimes conflicting considerations.
  • Directly oversee planning and implementation of the housing selection process for 900+ second year students in fulfillment of the residency requirement.
  • Serve as secondary systems administrator for the housing management software system.
  • Manage the digital strategy by designing and maintaining the Residence Life website, assisting with on-line and print marketing, and assist in management of the Residence Life social media presence.
  • Assist with the on-boarding of new staff, training them on core Housing Assignments procedures including facilitation of annual training for department staff on Housing Assignments processes.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Master’s degree –MBA, Educational Administration, CSP, Higher Education, Counseling, or related field.
  • 1- 3 years in a similar role with comparable goals and responsibilities.
  • Knowledge of residence life or housing in a collegiate setting and/or student development.
  • Ability to adapt to a changing environment and handle multiple priorities.
  • Excellent writing and analytical skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, with aptitude to learn new software and systems.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Prior experience with a housing management software.
  • Demonstrated ability to work and communicate effectively with diverse populations of students, e.g., students of color, first generation college students, and students with disabilities, etc.
  • Experience utilizing student information and tracking systems, such as Banner.
This is a 12-month, full-time position, and employee is expected to work in-person 37.5 hours per week Monday through Friday with potential, occasional night/weekend commitments during beginning/end of each semester.
This position will begin on July 1, 2024.
