Xavier University is currently seeking a Montessori Middle School (7th & 8th grade) instructor for the Xavier University Montessori Laboratory School.  This teaching position is responsible for the implementation of a dynamic, academically rigorous, interdisciplinary, developmentally appropriate classroom founded in Montessori philosophy that serves the adolescent’s unique nature and is reflective of the practices of AMS Secondary Teacher Education standards.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Establishes a developmentally and culturally appropriate environment that is conducive to adolescent learning and is steeped in Montessori secondary philosophy.
  • Delivers and gathers assessments in all areas throughout the year in accordance with the X-Lab curriculum assessment plan and procedures.
  • Conducts and collects observational data to inform the Multi-Tiered System of Supports.
  • Collaborates with the other Middle School instructor to ensure thematically based cross-curricular connections are in place and with the Upper Elementary instructors to ensure a spiral curriculum.
  • Communicates effectively, both verbally and in writing, with all Lab School staff and administration, families, and Xavier University personnel.

Required Qualifications:
·       Master of Education, ideally in Montessori
·       AMS Secondary I or Secondary I-II credential.
·       Minimum 3 years secondary Montessori classroom teaching experience
·       Strong planning and communication skills.
·       Ability to adapt to a changing environment and handle multiple priorities.
