Associate Coach, Women's Wrestling

Purpose: Responsible for assisting and supporting the head coach in instructing student athletes in the rules and fundamentals of wrestling, and determining fundamental philosophy, skills and techniques.
Duties:
- Assist in planning and implementing the operation of women’s wrestling program.
- Recruit women’s wrestlers
- Assist in budget preparation – responsible for administration and implementation of budget and spending
- Maintain current knowledge and abides by NCAA and HCAC rules, policies and procedures
- Maintain necessary records
- Monitor eligibility for women’s wrestling and maintains appropriate records
- Supervise student workers
- Monitor the academic progress of student athletes
- Advise students on their academic progress for academic retention
- Attend professional HCAC/NCAA meetings, clinics and seminars
- Work closely with the sports information department
- Schedule meets
- Responsible for safety of players during practice, games and travel
- Purchase and maintain women’s wrestling equipment and uniforms
- Make travel arrangements
- Schedule and organize team related activities
- Promote players for recognition
- Maintain relationships with media and public to enhance promotion of the University
- Supervise open gymnasium as needed and as permitted by NCAA Bylaws for safety purposes
- Event management as assigned by Director of Athletics
- Attend staff meetings
- Support the total athletic program
- Demonstrate integrity and uphold values and mission of the University
- Committee assignments and other duties appropriate to skills and training as assigned by supervisors
- Contribute to team effort by welcoming new and different work requirements; exploring new opportunities to enhance the services of the division; help other accomplish related job results as and where needed
Primary Contacts: Department Director, coaching staff, Athletic Training staff, Recreation Coordinators, Administrative Assistants, student employees, Student Affairs staff, Admission staff, prospective student athletes and families, enrolled student, Registrar, Faculty Athletic Representative, High School coaches and other members of the University community as well as the local outside community.
Supervision Exercised: Assistant coach, team manager, student work study
Supervision Received: Works toward a previously defined objective and uses a wide range of procedures exercising discretion and judgment; consulting and referring the Director of Athletics as appropriate.
Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s Degree preferred
Experience: College Coaching/High School Coaching
Specialized Training: Proficient in use of coaching techniques, audio visual, University vans, copier, camcorder, First Aid and CPR
Work Environment, Physical Demands: Standing or sitting in one position for long periods; computer data input; multiple concurrent tasks with constant service interruptions; carrying and lifting wrestling equipment; high level customer contact; strict confidentiality; detailed work; operating video and editing equipment; copier; fax, University vans for team and other transportation.
