Job Summary:
The Student Success Coach (SSC) (Hamilton and Middletown, OH) will serve as a mentor and coach dedicated to dual credit students, providing direct student contact through academic advising and coaching. Based on the assessed need, the coach will refer students to receive enhanced academic services. The Coach will report to the Director of Dual Credit Programs and will assist with operational support for all dual credit programs. They will collaborate with K-12 partners and university colleagues working with dual credit students.
- The Student Success Coach will help dual credit students address individual learning needs to increase achievement and persistence, as well as develop skills, behaviors and habits that contribute to success in college; meet and advise dual credit students at Miami and at offsite locations; answer inquiries from dual credit program students and parents (as appropriate); represent Miami at Information Sessions to promote the dual enrollment programs; act as a referral source for institutional resources to ensure student success; work with the Regional Office of Student Activities and Orientation to develop orientation and program activities for dual credit students; assist with generating reports for ODHE and ODE; collaborate with staff and faculty to promote the planning of new academic pathways; coordinate and develop wrap-around services for each student; assist in identifying and/or selecting eligible students to participate in the program; perform other job-related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Master’s degree and two years of experience advising, counseling, coaching, teaching or otherwise providing holistic student support in an education institution environment.
Desired Qualifications:
- Consideration may be given to applicants who have familiarity with dual credit programs; are familiar with Ohio’s College Credit Plus program and have experience in the development and implementation of special programs or workshops for low-income, first-generation students, and/or other groups of underserved student population; demonstrated ability to understand the needs of student populations historically underserved by higher education (i.e. low-income, first generations, etc.); ability to work a flexible schedule that might include occasional nights; demonstrated ability to learn and communicate detailed policies and procedures; have strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
