Xavier University’s Office of the Controller is seeking qualified applicants for the Staff Accountant II position to be cross-trained to perform multifunctioning accounting activities as assigned ranging from loan fund accounting, pledge and gift accounting, grant accounting, capital accounting and general fund accounting. Staff Accountant II helps support the overall monthly close and year-end close as well as prepare workpapers to assist with the annual audits.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- General fund accounting including preparing journal entries, bank and balance sheet reconciliations, processing interdepartmental transfers, approving expenditures in Xavier’s e-Procurement system and serves as backup to other accounting functions.
- Collaborate with campus partners to develop, implement and manage processes for tracking capital and large-scale maintenance expenditures, from project approval through project completion and fixed asset capitalization as well as depreciation.
- Assist the Controller’s Office with cash management functions by processing deposits and recording funds received, verifies payment activity properly interfaces with the general ledger, responsible for tracking and posting ACHs and wire transfers, and downloading bank activity for general ledger posting and informing campus partners.
- Bachelor’s degree required in Accounting or related field.
- Fixed Asset accounting or Banner experience preferred.
- At least one to three years in a similar role with comparable goals and responsibilities.
