Job Description

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Daily routine cleaning of stalls, and periodic stripping/rebedding of stalls.
  • Feeding and watering of horses in the barns and fields.
  • Sweeping, dusting, cleaning of all areas, including public areas, tack rooms, offices, restroom
  • Perform tasks requiring lifting, walking, bending, carrying, climbing, etc. on a daily basis.
  • Administer medicated feed supplements as requested by Director.
  • Perform duties requiring a knowledge of different types of hays and grains, and knowledge and reliable judgment of different qualities and quantities.
  • Perform duties that may require experience with different types of farm machinery, such as dragging arenas, hauling horses, or driving Gator.
  • Perform weekly facility walk through.
  • Ability to work with variety of departments on campus.
  • Maintain farm vehicles through daily upkeep as well as in conjunction with Physical Facilities Department.
  • Perform duties which may involve interaction with college students, parents, alumni, and prospective students, requiring a degree of communication skills and professional decorum.
  • Assist in creating daily work list and turn out list.
  • Open Equestrian Center and perform checklist of all areas.
  • Assist in barn with team and KNH classes when needed.
  • Work with student staff to implement work list and ensure completion of tasks.
  • Assist in preparation of supplies for horse shows.
  • Assist in ordering of supplies and development of relationship with vendors.
  • Maintain records on supply orders, vehicle maintenance, and work orders.

Minimum Qualification

  • Prior experience in horse care and barn and farm machinery.
  • Requires driver’s license.

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous full time experience with a reputable horse industry professional.
  • Some college education.
  • Good communication skills and exhibited professional decorum.
  • Thorough knowledge of common products and practices used in the horse industry.
  • Knowledge of and experience with farm machinery.
  • Ability to drive horse trailers (2 and 6 horse)

 

Additional Information

A criminal background check is required. All campuses are smoke- and tobacco-free campuses.
