Summary
Operates trucks, lifts and other materials handling equipment in the transportation of property in the care and custody of the University; assembles, arranges and/or dismantles equipment and furniture as needed.


Job Description
Essential Functions

  • Reviews instructions; determines type and quantity of material to be moved; locates materials; may disassemble materials for loading
  • Loads materials and/or equipment onto vehicles; may use hand jacks, electric jacks, or fork lifts
  • Drives vehicles which may include trucks, semi-trailer trucks, and moving trailers to deliver items to specified locations
  • Unloads materials from trucks
  • May assist in setting up tents and performing other tasks in support of special events.

 

Minimum Qualifications

  • Requires high school diploma or GED and one year of moving experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Requires driver’s license

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Basic mechanical skills
  • Ability to use fork lift and other power equipment
  • Knowledge of moving techniques and procedures

 

Working Conditions

  • Continuous standing, walking, or operating machinery with considerable lifting of materials weighing up to 75 pounds.  Periodic assignments given which entail dealing with modesty unpleasant physical situations.

 

Additional Information

A criminal background check is required. All campuses are smoke- and tobacco-free campuses.
