Police Sergeant
Job Description Summary
Police Sergeants are in charge of first-line police personnel; including sworn police officers and non-sworn staff. Police Sergeants, however, do perform the duties of Police Officers, including patrols and enforcement of laws, ensuring a safe and secure environment for the university community.
Job Description
Oversee basic Police Department operations, ensure standard procedures are followed, review reports, plan and implement deployment of personnel, conduct inspections, review work performance, provide advice and counseling to those being supervised.
Act as a member of the Miami University Police Department management team and are expected to develop and implement programs, serve on various committees, participate in policy development, and perform other management duties as warranted.
Perform basic duties of a Police Officer, including foot patrol and mobile patrol, responding to calls for service, taking reports, making arrests, enforcing traffic laws, and other duties.

Minimum Qualifications:
- OPOTA Certification
- Minimum of 7 consecutive years of law enforcement experience with 2 of those years working for Miami University Police Department.
- Valid Driver's License
- High School Diploma or GED
