Job Description Summary
The Student Programming Coordinator is a member of the Center for Student Engagement, Activities, and Leadership team within the Division of Student Life. The Programming Intern reports to the Assistant Director of Student Activities and works with colleagues and stakeholders in meeting the departmental mission while contributing to the holistic development of Miami University students. The Student Programming Coordinator is responsible for serving as a resource to students by advising the Miami Activities and Programming (MAP) student organization and planning major campus events and initiatives.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • Co-Advise Miami Activities & Programming (MAP), the premier programming board on campus.
  • Provide direct advising and support to all Late Night Miami initiatives: a partnership program between MAP and the Division of Student Life.
  • Implement comprehensive training and leadership programs for MAP students.
  • Collaborate with University departments to plan campus-wide events including but not limited to: Welcome Home, Homecoming, and Family Weekend.
  • Oversee the recruitment and selection of MAP general and executive members.
  • Provide knowledge and guidance in the planning and implementation of campus-wide programs.
  • Maintain accountability within goal setting, event planning, advisor expectations, and student experiences.
  • Provide oversight for departmental initiatives and programs.
  • Other duties that meet the current needs of the Center for Student Engagement, Activities, and Leadership and or interests of the coordinator.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s Degree required
  • Must possess strong computer competence, including but not limited to word processing, spreadsheet applications, email, and electronic presentations
  • Willingness to work irregular hours including evenings and weekends required

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience advising student organizations.
  • Experience providing risk management or hazing prevention training to student organization members and leaders

 

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES

  • Willingness to work in a team and collaborative environment required
  • Must possess strong written and oral communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Experience as a student organization leader
  • Experience event planning

 

PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Experience with Clifton Strengths or similar leadership skill inventories

 

Additional Position Information (if applicable)

  • Provide leadership for the Center for Student Engagement, Activities, and Leadership in establishing and fulfilling its mission and goals, and in conducting daily operations and responsibilities.
  • Assist in supporting and establishing annual and long-range department goals.
  • Support, nurture, and maintain regular and collaborative relationships within the Division of Student Life and other University offices.
  • Assist in the selection process and implementation of the Student Engagement, Activities, and Leadership Recognition Ceremony and various other recognition programs.
