Job Description
Visiting Assistant Professor/Instructor to teach online graduate courses for Project Dragonfly’s Advanced Inquiry Program (AIP) and Global Field Program (GFP) and in-person undergraduate courses on topics including conservation science, community-based conservation, ecology, evolution, environmental biology, and inquiry-based learning in the Department of Biology; perform service with Project Dragonfly to work with a creative university team of faculty and staff at Project Dragonfly to instruct graduate-level online and/or hybrid courses offered through Miami University. Project Dragonfly courses are designed in collaboration with numerous national and global partners leading conservation efforts worldwide.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Required: Ph.D. in ecology, conservation biology, environmental or science education, or a related field by date of appointment for appointment as Visiting Assistant Professor; ABD in ecology, conservation biology, environmental or science education, or a related field by date of appointment for appointment as Instructor; excellent oral and written communication skills; knowledge of student and instructional support; organizational skills with attention to detail; commitment to working in a collaborative environment to support a diverse instructional team and student body.
• Consideration may be given to candidates with specialized experience in a relevant area such as community-based conservation, public engagement in science, learning in formal and informal settings, sustainability, ethnoecology, or international research; experience with web-based courses and instruction; familiarity with collaborative tools such as Zoom, Google Meets, Skype, Google apps, web conferencing, and creation of engaging video/instructional media.
