Job Description Summary
Assist in the daily operation of the athletic equipment room including issuance, inventory, maintenance, and repair of athletic equipment. Works alongside the Director of Football Sport & Facility to coordinate and administer all aspects of Miami University equipment, uniform, and protective gear needs.


Job Description
Duties & Responsibilities

  • Provides equipment assistance for assigned teams, including Football and Men’s & Women’s Swim/Dive (women’s tennis) (purchasing, inventory, billing)
  • Maintain, repair, issue, clean, and inventory athletic equipment for assigned teams
  • Student manager director/oversight
  • Responsible for the safety and protection of students during practice and competition through protective equipment and uniforms by assisting the Director of Equipment Services in evaluating the condition of equipment used by student athletes
  • Facilitate laundry services provided in APC
  • Assist Director of Equipment Services in purchasing equipment, contacting vendors, preparing orders, contract negotiations and receiving/inspecting deliveries
  • Assist in game management for home athletic events
  • Assist in preparation of equipment for athletic competition, including issuing equipment to individuals
  • Operate motor vehicles to and from practices and competitions
  • Maintain cleanliness of work and storage areas and all supplies, vehicles, and equipment used in the performance of duties
  • Report any damage, malfunction, irregularities, and/or potential hazards in grounds, equipment, vehicles, or supplies to supervisor
  • Responsible for establishing and performing with a work ethic that is contagious, productive, and effective
  • Adhere to any and all NCAA, Mid-American Conference, and Miami University policies, rules, regulations, and operational procedures
  • Able to represent Miami University and the Department of Athletics at events, public activities, alumni gatherings and all related activities
  • Responsible for other duties as assigned by the Director of Equipment Services

 

Supervision Exercised

  • Lead and oversee the work of support staff, as designated

 

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • One - two years previous experience in athletic equipment maintenance, inventory management, and ordering. 
  • AEMA certification in order to assist with proper equipment fitting.
 

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Must be able to work nights and weekends. 
  • Candidates must have successful experience working in a collaborative and team oriented environment and act with integrity and personal accountability. May require some travel.
